Lavender Festival at Blake’s
July 12, 13 & 14 2019: 10-5pm

With just a short drive from the hustle and bustle of city life, the Lavender Festival at Blake’s is a perfect mid-summer getaway. Not only is this event a celebration of all the wonders of Lavender, but also an event that knits together local, talented artisans of one-of-a-kind hand-made goods!

This year’s festival highlights include:

  • Over 100 artisans with Made in Michigan products
  • Free classes, speakers and demonstrations on topics such as natural wellness, aromatherapy, farming and gardening, benefits of local honey and more!
  • DIY make and take workshops with lavender
  • Children’s activity tent with free crafts and entertainment for kids 12 and under
  • U-pick lavender, fruits, and vegetables
  • Lavender infused food and drinks including lavender lemonade, ice cream, cupcakes, donuts, and more!

Admission to the festival includes FREE educational classes, speakers, demonstrations and children’s activity tent!

The festival will be held at Blake’s Orchard and Cider Mill located at 17985 Armada Center Rd., Armada, MI 48005

2019 Attractions:

  • LIVE MUSIC: Relax and enjoy the sounds of many local talented musicians as the perform throughout the day.
  • CHILDREN’S ACTIVITY TENT: Geared for kids 12 & under. Following a short, hands-on demo kids will take home a free sample of the craft of the day.
  • THE ORCHARD CAFÉ: Offering gourmet food options with a lavender twist. Garden fresh salads, sandwiches, desserts, as well as our famous lavender lemonade and lavender ice cream.
  • DEMONSTRATION AND SPEAKER TENT: Stop into the demonstration and speaker area to learn more aboutnatural wellness, aromatherapy, farming and gardening, benefits of local honey and more! A full speaker schedule to be released closer to the festival.
  • LAVENDER, HERB, AND PERENNIAL SALE: We have a fabulous selection of beautiful, hardy lavender plants perfect for growing in our Michigan climate as well as a host of other gorgeous herbs, succulents and perennials to compliment you landscape.
  • MSU EXTENSION MASTER GARDENER BOOTH: Stop by to chat with master gardeners, horticulturists and educators from Michigan State University. Instructors will also share their expert knowledge with the following classes each day:
    • 11:00am: Composting 101
    • 1:00pm: Preserving the Harvest
    • 3:00pm The Secrets to Growing Beautiful Lavender
  • LAVENDER SWEET SHOPPE: From lavender cupcakes, cookies and fudge to lavender kettle corn and almonds you’ll be amazed at the delicious touch lavender can add to these sweet creations. Don’t forget our famous lavender lemonade and lavender ice cream that will also be available.
  • U-PICK LAVENDER, FRUITS AND VEGETABLES: We’ve planted over an acre of the purple flowering perennial for you to pick for a small charge. Train rides to the lavender field will also be available. We are proud to offer u-pick red and black raspberries and tart cherries during this time as well. Other fruits and vegetables may also be in season based on the weather.

Guests can stop in one of the many ongoing workshops listed below during the festival. Workshops are geared for children 12 years to adults. All DIY workshops are approximately 30-60 minutes and all materials and handouts are included in the workshop fee.

BEES IN THE D: Founder and President of Bees in the D, and recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching will be discussing the Life of a Honey Bee, the Pollinator’s Garden, and How to be a Beekeeper

SEVEN PONDS NATURE CENTER: Join us an expert from Seven Ponds Nature Center in Dryden MI discusses all things wildflowers including species that thrive in Michigan, weed control, herbicides and more.

WW FARMS: Founder of WW Lavender Farm, Trish Wesner, will be discussing the tips and tricks to growing lavender in Michigan as well as how to dry your own lavender.

MSU EXTENSION: The Master Gardeners from Michigan State University will be discussing topics such as Growing and Using Lavender, Michigan Monarchs, and other home gardening and farming tips.

BCBS NUTRITIONIST: Join us as a nutritionist form Blue Cross Blue Shield discuss the benefits of cooking with lavender. Weather simply adding lavender to your tea, baked goods or other recipes lavender offers many benefits such as vitamins, calcium, iron, ease stress and anxiety and many more!

SOLSTICE HEALING ARTS COLLECTIVE:  Join us as Erin Keith, M.ED Art Therapist, ATR discusses mindfulness and the power of  art therapy.

PLANTERRA CONSERVATORY: Join us as a professional from the Planterra Conservatory in West Bloomfield discusses biophilia and how to incorporate nature into the environment you live, work, learn, and play in.
